29 faces

Faces 2, 3 and 4.

As I am not a painter of faces I am completely out of my comfort zone and struggling a little using acrylics and mixed medium. I am trying to come to terms with the shading of faces to give depth and feel that my spontaneity is being lost a little together with the character.  I shall persevere but may end up using my markers again.

Face 2..

Cereal box card, torn papers, acrylics and pen.

Face 3..

Cereal box card, gesso and acylic and coloured pencils.

Face 4..

This one went completely wrong and she also looks so sad, but in the spirit of my learning, I have shown it.  Cereal box, gesso, acrylics.

  1. All 3 are terrific. I would call the first one Sassy; the second one Sweet; and the third one is Strict, maybe even Condescending. With imagination I guess she could be Sad.

  2. I like them all. They each have their own personality. Leaving our comfort zone is a good thing now and then because it forces us to grow. I love all your art and hope you don't give up on faces.

  3. I love that one at the top! So pretty and really great background! As for the blue-haired one you think went wrong, I don't agree! First, good for you for showing it! Second, everything we do helps improve our skill. And 3, the skin tones and highlights are looking really good! :D

  4. Wonderful! They're all great though I love the pone with the colourful flowers the most. She shines with prettiness. I think you're doing well with the acrylics. It's a hard medium to master.

  8. I am loving your faces and I particularly like the one with the blue hair - the one you think went wrong. I love her face and the expression is great - love the eyes and the blue hair!
