Creative Tuesdays - Happy birthday

The challenge this time over at Creative Tuesdays is in celebration of Wanda's birthday.  Wanda is such a beautiful and wonderful lady inside and out. I met her through the Creative Tuesdays challenges and am so pleased that I did. She just loves life and all who are around her.  So congratulations and a Happy Birthday Wanda.

For this special challenge I threw a little caution to the wind, which I think Wanda would appreciate, and free machined onto fabric using only my sewing machine thread.  I did use coloured pencils to add the colour though.  It took me a while to do but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The idea came from Wanda's childhood when her mom would bake a banana cake with thick frosting placed on a table cloth with fresh flowers.

There will be other cards for Wanda over on the Creative Tuesdays blog.

  1. Linda, I'm overwhelmed, and touched beyond belief. I'm not kidding that this has brought tears to my eyes, and deep appreciation to my heart for you. I have always loved your work...but girlfriend...you have just gone over the top with this lovely piece of my childhood. My mother must be smiling down from heaven at this tribute to me and her. OK after all that...can I have a piece of that cake!!!!

  7. Linda, this is amazing and the fact you used stitching is incredible. Wow. What is even more funny is how you did almost the exact same thing I drew but yours is way better. Mine had bunting too but was so lousy I threw it away--twice! the touch of including Wanda's story of her mother is fantastic. I am also touched at what a sensitive and fitting tribute this is to Wanda. Thank you!
