Creative Tuesdays - My 2015 word

Each January it is now getting more popular to have a word that defines the year ahead, and Creative Tuesdays is no exception, as this is the latest challenge.

After a lot of deliberation and looking at how my life has changed since moving away from Oxford, it feels that it was destined for me to move to Christchurch.  I have sold and exhibited in a local gallery and am preparing for my next one at the end of this month. Have wonderful neighbours and made friends.  Also it is such a beautiful area. Therefore I have 'belief' that this was all meant to happen and for what lies ahead as well.

As I am busy preparing for the gallery I quickly put together this little piece of art.  I dyed the background fabric and then sewed on the word and flower, adding my customary dots!  It is 5x3 inches in size (I must try and take better photos as this one makes it look uneven).  I am going to mount it onto a small deep artists canvas so that it is a free standing piece of art, but don't have time at the moment.

  1. Beautiful piece Linda, I like the way you have intricately put the word into your art.

  2. I'm loving the words so far...each one has such special meaning, as your does. Belief....such a powerful word. The illustration is beautiful, and congrats on the sell of one.

  3. How clever to have your word double up as the flower stem. Very clever. I don't have a word, but like to read why people choose the words they do :o)

  4. Linda,

So lovely to meet you from Creative Tuesdays.

I love this. Belief - I believe in Jesus - and He has made an amazing difference in my life. God is watching over us.

Your sewing is beautiful and I love the colours. I have trouble taking pictures and getting my work straight as well. But I can crop. It is harder for you to crop as we need to see the entire piece. I wonder if it might be the angle of the camera?

    Blessings,
    Janis

  5. This is beautiful! I love your illustrations, and the sewn work too. The colors and tie dye tones drew me in, and it was fun hunting to figure out where the word was. I love how it's hidden in the stem. Beautiful! "Belief" is a great word to have, and I have faith and belief that your year and move will be great for your life and for your art <3

  6. Beautifully crafted. I have no sewing skills, so I am doubly appreciative. I have been to Christchurch -- before the earthquake-- and it is a beautiful city in a beautiful area.

  7. Wonderful write up and wonderful piece here too, Linda. I really love it - am always amazed at how you can just whip up some 3d piece like this. Its perfect how you;ve shown belief blossoming into new fruitful things, bearing life which indeed your move has done so. I am sure Christchurch is utterly lovely. So happy for you and am also wishing you a yer of continued blessings with good things. Thank you so much for even finding the time to do this for us. It's perfect.

  10. This is really beautiful. I'm amazed how some people (like you) are so talented with fabric art. Belief is a great word. Belief to yourself, belief on future and belief on life. It's all important.
