Creative Tuesdays - Stained Glass Window

Many years ago I used to paint on glass, so thought that this challenge would be right up my street.  Unfortunately all my paints had dried up, so putting on my thinking cap I came up with the following.  Sharpie pens on acetate.  It took a bit of playing with as the pens act differently on plastic and can only be laid down once, so no shadowing etc and with a very careful laying down of colour, otherwise it streaks.  Being in a whimsical mood I doodled the following.

I then taped it to my conservatory window.  Rather a dull day though, so not shown to its best.

Check out the CT blog for other stained glass goodies.

Wishing all the lovely CT'ers blessings for a very happy and positive New Year.

  1. Linda,
This is amazing. I love the colour and your whimsical designs. I have never painted on acetate. This time I painted on rice paper.
    Blessings and Happy New Year,
    Janis

  2. Linda, I agree with Janis--amazing stained glass and a very creative use of plastic and markers. Love all the swirls too! ;-)

  3. That would be such a cute window in a child's room. I can imagine the sun would create lovely colors on the walls and floor.

    Happy New Year.

  5. This is wonderful!! I used sharpies on a butterfly I did with Wee Man, for the window. They are not light fast, but as it faded we just added more colour ;)
Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy, healthy and art-filled 2016 :D I look forward to continuing to enjoying your artwork :D xo

  6. Wonderful fun actual window art, very stained glass looking even. Well done. I love it. It looks great up against the glass too. Clever.

How lovely that your joined CT this go around. A nice way to wrap up the year and invite in January with those lovely colours.

thank you so much for showing us all. You did a great job with single layering of the inks too. I'm sure that was not easy. Reminds me of th old days when I would create logos with rapidogaph pens on acetone paper.

  8. when I doodle, it doesn't look this good. it's actually a good idea to do this on acetate, you should just place a colorful piece of paper behind and take another shot, that would show the colors a whole brighter. great piece for the ct theme.

    have a great new year.

  10. It's quite beautiful, Linda, and I love your idea of taping it to the window to get the full effect, despite it being a bit dreary outside. :)
