Creative Tuesdays - Bottle

This time the callenge for Creative Tuesdays is bottle.

When I was a child it would be a common sight to see blue tits pecking away at the foil of milk bottles to get to the cream  This seems to very rarely happen now. I think this is because there are so few deliveries of milk to the doorstep any more and the fact that the milk has changed in how it is produced. So this activity is something that we are sadly losing in the UK.

I have come across some fabulous gouache paint, so thought I would give it a try instead of my trusted acrylics and the whole thing turned out less whimiscal than normal. Not a polka dot in sight! I am already having withdrawals!

Pop over to Mr T's blog to see other bottles.

  4. So pretty without dots too. We used to have a cost that would knock the bottles over so they would break and it could drink the milk.

  6. The birds are adorable! I don't know about "less whimsical", just different whimsical. No polka dots but lovely stylized wings. Neat!

  7. really nice. Love the write-up/backstory inspiration for the piece. I never heard of this type of bird nor the activity of birds pecking at milk. You know, when I was a little kid, about 33 years ago or so, I remember we actually had milk delivered, but that stopped, and I'd always thought it was just my parents stopped doing it, and a while ago, years back, I looked into it as we drink a lot of milk here, and thought if it was inexpensive enough, I'd give it ago, just for something different, but I couldn't find anyplace that did this. So neat how your story reminded me of that. The new paint came out great. Thanks, very cute piece.

  13. Wonderful whimsical idea here. So well done, Linda. May I say, I did not even know that milk deliveries are fading out in the UK too! Sad. As it is, one can get it here where I am and, in fact, there are about 3 delivery milk delivery companies to choose from. I used to have it a while but it got pricey. Such good, straight from the far milk though. One still had their in more rectangular bottles with foil tops but then moved to plastic as was the other company's.
Anyway, great entry. Sorry to keep you waiting! Thanks for doing this too.
