When is a heart not a heart, that was the quest for the latest Creative Tuesdays challenge. The idea was a heart that is either depicted like it's floating, or in the air, or perhaps on something that's in the air.
Well, keeping on with my instintive quilt art practice (see previous post) this is what happened, a flower!
Having previously hand painted some silk, I decided to try and incorporate this into another instinctive quilt with just the idea of a heart in mind. Now I look at it, it rather reminds me of a large strawberry, albeit is using three heart shapes. Oh well back to the drawing board or should I say sewing machine!
Pop over to the CT blog to find other hearts.
Your marbled, 'strawberry heart' is beautiful Linda; the colours are fantastic and the background very warming :D
ReplyDeletehow fun that you did stitching for our heart theme. I can see the strawberry, the three hearts and to me it looks a bit like a human heart as well. lovely piece.

ReplyDeleteyour blog header is lovely, so cheerful.
Beautiful work Linda, with all the hearts 'in the air'!
ReplyDeleteI love these! The hidden design of a heart in plain sight in the first one and the second looking more like a human heart but with fantastical colors. I love your illustration and these fabric works keep them up!

ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how you made a flower from hearts. It took me a second to figure it out. And your other one is beautiful - great colours and design.
Blessings,
Janis
I don't think you need to improve on anything. I think it's quite adorable, and I love it when hearts are not just perfect heart shapes. You talent goes far beyond the paint and brush. I love your art from your sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you are so creative. Although you think your second piece looks like a strawberry, I see the heart first and I wouldn't have noticed it as a strawberry until you mentioned it. It's beautiful as is the flower quilt. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the patterns on the first even if it doesn't quite look what you would like.
ReplyDeletethe heart piece is wonderful, I like the swirls of red and blue - like marbles maybe.
great work for ct theme. have a lovely day.
I so love, Linda, that you are exploring stitching and quilts and hand made things. It's also, selfishly, rather wonderful to have another medium represented in CT as it certainly doesn't have to be for illustrations only.
ReplyDeleteYes, strawberry does come to mind and that is lovely I think. I love what you are doing here. Perfect...and very smart..interpretation of the floating heart theme for CT. Well done! GREAT to have you here this week. Thank you so much!
Your work is beautiful. I'm a quilter also. I enjoyed coming by from Creative Tuesday. Thanks for sharing your work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've always loved a play on hearts
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute, Linda. I love how you incorporated heart petals in your flower. Darling. :)
ReplyDeleteLove these - the hearts are fab and the colours and textures are wonderful :)
