Creative Tuesdays - Alphabet

The next challenge over at Creative Tuesdays is alphabet.  There was no reason why I chose B, just  Because....  Because it is Black and white or Because I have only 3 days left of being dutifully employed or Because I am about to embark on a very different and new stage in my life (scary).

Perhaps I should have chosen C for all the challenges I am going through at the moment!

There are already lots of alphabets on Mr T's blog, so go and check them out.

Love of lines - artist or illustrator?

I have been sorting through a lot of my really old art work and have realised that I have this love affair with lines.  I have come to the conclusion that basically I am not a painterly artist (if artist is the right word) and although love colours do love drawing lines and then filling them with colours.

On this basis I don't know whether I call myself at artist or an illustrator? To the outside world an artist paints, an illustrator draws.  What do you think on this subject?

Whilst sorting througth I came across some line drawings and characters I had done about 8 years ago, so I may reinvent them for future projects.  Because I was teaching glass painted card making I developed a whole load of simple designs for my classes.

The following is an updated line drawing I did quickly yesterday based on a design I already had.  I will probably play with this using colour.

It would be interesting to read your thoughts on artists v illustrators.

Happy Christmas!

Seasons greeting to one and all, and may the new year bring all that you wish for.

Creative Tuesdays - Purple

Purple is the theme for this week's challenge from Mr Toast, which had to be the colour of the main subject of the picture.  I thought I would challenge myself even further and only use purple, so with one pot of Dioxide Purple and one pot of white paint the following was produced.

Why not check out Mr Toast's blog to see how other artists have interpreted this week's theme.

Happy Easter!

Spring blossom

Spring blossom is everywhere at the moment, sadly it does not stay long, hence my drawing.  Have been set a real challenge from Mr T for next week.  Rooftops, either from a birds eye view or looking upwards.  If you see someone with a crick in their neck, that's me.

Playing around again!

As I always seem to be drawn to circles, I thought I would play with oblongs and squares and this was the result.  When I scanned it into the computer, I thought I would invert it to see what happened, the second pic was how it came out. Kinda cool I thought.

Fun characters

Whilst I am starting on my 3M angel, I am trying to do something small each day, so I decided to do some simple character drawings.  These are 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size and are done with no planning, just how the pen goes on the paper and then painted in acrylic, just to see what happens.  I am hoping that by doing them regularly and not really worrying about the end result, I might surprise myself. These are the first two.

Still working on my goddess

But in the meantime, a whimsical painting using some of my favourite colours.  I am not hurrying with my goddess painting, as I don't want to work on her in artifical light, which only leaves me the weekends because of my job.  Still the days are beginning to draw out again and I am so looking forward to the Spring. Happy weekend everyone!

Just playing around

Thought I would loosen up a little with some doodling, whilst still working on my Goddess painting.   I am following Traci Bautista's daily prompts at http://kollaj.typepad.com/kollaj/art-journaling-daily.html and this was as a result of one of her prompts.

I spashed acylic ink on watercolour paper, then made random circles and did whatever felt good. The ink dried in such a way on the third one, that it suggested a cat, albeit a strange one, so I left off the circles and drew in some lines.
