Ship is the challenge this time over at Creative Tuesdays.
I didn't think I would manage this challenge as I am now officially on the move. Contracts exchanged with completion on 16 July and because of the distance I am going I move in on 17 July. Yeh!!!!! I shall be celebrating on the patio listening to all the sea gulls. Downside is I won't have any broadband or wifi connections for a couple of weeks, so I may not be able to visit anyones blogs until I am reunited with the world again. Hopeuflly by that time I will have unpacked all my boxes.
This was a quick drawing of the first thing that came into my head, using promakers. After I had drawn the shape at the bottom it looked so much like a whale, so that is what it turned into which wasn't intentional.
Pop over to the CT blog to see more ships.

Sunday Postcard Art - Rainy Days
With so much rain about at the momet this a very apt challenge for this week over at SPA. I did not have much time at all, so my litle mouse is a very quick sketch, which I may well develop further.

Creative Tuesdays - News
This weeks Creative Tuesdays challenge is News.
Somewhere out in the forest, there is a band of news reading owls, they are supposed to forecast the weather, but do tend to get it wrong!
I had fun with this one and came up with a whole host of owls doing things with newspaper, but I ran out of space.

Creative Tuesdays - Break new ground
The challenge on Creative Tuesdays I found hard this time. The theme was break new ground which is taken from Sara Watkins' song "Take up your spade".
The first lines are: "Sun is up, a new day before you. Sun is up, wake your sleepy soul." I had never heard these lyrics before but the sentiment is lovely.
It is these first couple of lines that produced the following.
See how other artists have interpreted this song over on Mr T's blog.

Sunday Postcard Art - Bohemian
A bohemian owl, my addition for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge this week. Anything bohemian always reminds me of the flower power era.

Watercolour sketches
As I don't use watercolours very much, I thought I would try some characters out using this medium. When working on them, although they were quick, I remember that I hate waiting for the paint to dry. These are all ACEO size using watercolour pencils as paints.
What do you think? I don't seem to be able to get the vibrancy of colour, which I love, as I can with my trusty acrylics. I think I might try a comparison and do these characters again but in acrylics.

Creative Tuesdays - Simply Darling
This week, the Creative Tuesdays challenge was either Simply Cute or Simply Darling. I struggled with this one as I just could not decide on what I was going to do, so was glad we had an extra week! Here is my 'simply darling'.
This one gave me the opportunity to practice with my Copics and although you cannot see on the screen her wings and wand are all covered with glitter.
There are already some other great interpretations on Mr T's blog, so go and have a look.

Creative Tuesdays - Shoes
The challenge this time on Creative Tuesdays is Shoes. Well as a gal can't have enough of them, I wanted to draw something with lots of legs. Originally the centipede came to mind, but all those feet! Too daunting. So the next thing was the octopus indulging in her favourite hobby, although I am not sure that the turtle is too happy. (Mr T, I know you did one for icecream, so I hope you don't mind a female version!)
Check out other shoes on Mr T's blog on Tuesday.

More whimsical birds for my little art book
Through making this little art book, I have realised that I like to keep themes going in an art book, hence I seem to have a lot of books on the go all at the same time, with not many filled. Because this is a little book with 10 pages I don't find it so daunting and have completed the book with whimsical bird drawings, half now waiting to be painted. This makes me feel that I have actually completed a project and will have a little decorative piece of art as well.
These are the two latest birds.
For the month of January, Micki at The Secret Hermit organised The Big Fat January Mail Art Swap, where on receipt of a piece of your art she would send one of her fabulous paintings in return. This was the one I received which I absolutely love. Thanks Micki!
This was the one that I sent her using my recycled art theme.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Creative Tuesdays - Bubblegum
Well, this was a challenge and a half for the latest Creative Tuesday's entry. Bubblegum either packaged, stretched or blown. Well after a lot of thought, and a lot of rubbing out this is my whimsical take on it.
We all know what happens when bubblegum bursts, well this is just before that happening. I called this piece, When the bubble bursts.
On Tuesday pop over to Mr T's blog to see what everyone else made of it.

Blue angel cat
I have not managed much this week in the way of art, but this little chap did show his face.
I have not exactly lost my creative flow and do feel that there is something bubbling up ready to pop out but I do not know what. There also seems to be a lot of ideas going on in my head. Perhaps I need a break, not think so hard and just see what happens.
This little fella is painted in acrylics together with a sharpie maker pen.
The sun is shining here in the UK, which is lovely. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I am also linking this up with Artists in Blogland.

Recycled Dogs
After my recycled cats, I did say that I could feel some recycled dogs coming up. These are again on recycled toilet roll holders and recycled papers.
I am linking these to Artists in Blogland Show and Tell Week 10. I can't believe that it has been 10 weeks since Marcia started this fabulous blog. Check it out!

Recycled Cats
I have been recycling again this week. Toilet roll holders, cardboard packaging, old book pages and the insides of envelopes. There is something really liberating about painting on recycled material, perhaps it's because it does not cost anything other than time, and you lose nothing if it doesn't work out and you want to throw it away. I also find that these are really quick to do once the card is ready.
After my recycled owls I have come up with my recycled cats.

Show and Tell Saturday - You like my boots!
Another birdie in boots has appeared in my sketch book. I feel that this little chap is rather proud of his boots and wants everyone to admire them.
I have also been busy with my Creative Tuesdays challenge of Autumn, that will be posted on Tuesday.
Hop over to Artists in Blogland and catch up with eveyone else. Happy weekend!

Show and tell Saturday - Booted birdie
Hi everyone, I have been busy working on my Zazzle store which still needs fine tuning but is here if anyone wants to take a peak, or I have a link on the right bar of my blog.
I wanted to try out a new sketch pad to see how it worked with acrylics and markers. So I quickly painted the following sketch this morning. This pad was lovely to draw and paint on, didn't buckle and the marker did not bleed, so I think it is a winner. I think that a version of this sketch may find its way into my store.
I have a thing at the moment for magenta and turquoise.
Why not pop over to Artists in Blogland to check out the action. The weather in the UK is glorious at the moment, so I am heading off outside. Wonderful weekend to everyone.

Show and tell Saturday - whimsical bluebird
Well another week has gone by, my how time flys. For this week's show and tell for Artists in Blogland I have been busy painting this whimsical bird in mixed media. I have cropped the pic for this blog but am intending to use is as a basis for a card.
I am also doing the fabulous Jane Davenport's great Supplies Me class and this is my first coloured pencil face, trying to get some shading as Jane is teaching us. Looking at this I feel that the whole face is not strong enough in colour, but I think that will come with confidence and practice.
The next challenge for Mr Toast's Creative Tuesday is all done and I will put that on my blog probably tomorrow.
It's Marcia's birthday today, she is the lovely lady who runs Artists in Blogland, go and send her best wishes.
Well that's what I have been doing this week. Happy weekend everyone!

Creative Tuesdays - Ideal Coffee Break
Creative Tuesdays challenge this week is Ideal Coffee Break, well being quintessentially British, for me it had to be afternoon tea. It was pointed out to me a few years ago that whenever time permits, I also stop for a cup of tea at around 4.00pm. I hadn't realised this trait until I was told about it!
It would be such a treat to have afternoon tea at the Ritz, so my entry this time had to be afternoon tea and cakes.
Pop over the Mr T's blog on Tuesday to find other ideal coffee breaks.
